Well you have to appreciate that they suggested a "hanging machine". This means they are willing to employ a much more complicated method than necessary to hang you. They're definitely destined to become politicians!

^Lmao!
Ok, don't tell anyone... But I'm actually kind of hurt that he said that. At first it was funny, like, "Oh my god, the Young Repubs hate me that much! LOL. And I'm shocked, but not super shocked, because they were kinda jerks."
I don't know if you read my original post, but the guy who said that was really nice to me and I thought we had a great conversation... What the hell?

It's interesting, because at the end of the day, we were passing each other on the stairs as I went up to the third floor and he went down to the second.
Hey.
*confused* Where are you going?
I have a writing retreat thing.
*still confused* Ok.
It took me a few seconds after to realize that he was going to the Young Republicans club (on the second floor of that area) and was wondering why I wasn't.
If he didn't want me to go and hated me, then why would he care if I don't go? Or maybe he was just confused why I wasn't going?
It might seem like I'm overthinking this, but this came out of nowhere. :/

Seems like he's trying to be "cool" for his friends, not just by agreeing with their dislike, but also one-uping it. Typical teen male pack behavior. Even if he did enjoy talking to you, he may not want to be ostracized in his own group for "consorting" with the enemy.

^He didn't seem like the type based on his criticism of the club officers. :/
I don't know, maybe. It's still a dick move, though.
I mean, a joke about HANGING me? He condemned Donald Trump's hateful rhetoric and said he wasn't a real conservative, and then makes jokes about murdering people he disagrees with.
Trump IS a real conservative. This is the republican party; they voted him in. They're not abandoning Trump because a lot of them agree with his hateful rhetoric.
He's a Christian, also. I'm sure Jesus approves of that type of thing.
Conservative Christians are the biggest hypocrites.

It's not really possible for anyone wanting radical change to be called a conservativeEquALLity wrote:^

It depends on how you're defining 'conservative', but he's certainly a republican and a right-winger.knot wrote:It's not really possible for anyone wanting radical change to be called a conservativeEquALLity wrote:^

Re: Young Democrats/Republicans clubs at school
I talked to him today. The club isn't until tomorrow, but I was in the library today studying for a math quiz when he just randomly plopped an article next to me about Hillary Clinton. He started talking about how bad she is, the emails etc., and then went back to his seat. o_O
I went over to him and said something like, "By the way, my friend said that at the club fair you guys were making jokes about hanging me."
He seemed to get kind of fidgety with his pencil and replied, "I would never make jokes about hanging people. Two of my ancestors were hung on the same day."
Note how I never accused him personally of making the joke- I just said "you guys" and he got pretty defensive.
"I never said that she told me you made the joke personally."
Then he said something about how the other guys were making jokes about someone named Allie, and that he didn't actually remember my name.
So... It seems like he's just lying to my face. o_O Not sure what to do.

You can ignore it and just remember he's a lying asshole, think maybe your friend got it wrong and forget it, or confront him again.
