Haha, I'm aware of the literal options. :P
I'm just not sure which is best.

Your response to this is more or less inconsequential, so whatever makes you feel best? I wasn't there, so I can't say. The only one you'll actually learn from is confrontation, though. Maybe you'll resolve it, or hate him more after. Either way is OK since he doesn't seem that sensible anyway.

He was embarrassed enough about joking about you when you weren't there due to peer pressure that he lied about it.
Now he's telling you this. Either he's lying, or confiding in you, but either way it's to get on your good side because he'd have no reason to take such a risk of peer ridicule otherwise.

Given that he's spineless to confront peer pressure, and probably not vegan, I'd give this one a pass if I were you. But just saying; he likes you.

Geez, that makes things a lot more complicated...
I don't want to hurt his feelings. :P

 This is so high school, isn't it?
Maybe I should find a different forum for this. ;)

This is a kid, his feelings will be hurt no matter what. Consider more how it will affect his future behavior.

His liking you gives you a little leverage to influence him, at least. See if you can get him to watch some documentaries. Maybe he'll reduce his meat consumption if he gets some more information.

Teenagers aren't 'kids'.

I don't think it's a good idea to manipulate him into going vegetarian or something. That would have to require leading him on, and I don't want to do that...

Depends on how old you are.

It would not require leading him on. It would require saying "Hey, have you seen this? I want to know what you think."
