You need to keep it secret in the trials.
Remember how your democrat club teacher told the principal who told the republican club teacher?
Stuff gets out. As a rule, never tell anybody anything unless it's necessary, unless you don't mind everybody knowing (if it's necessary there's no choice, but there's no need to disclose it here and it may make it EASIER for you to record if your friend knows, thus foiling the experiment).
Doesn't matter how much you trust the friend. Stuff leaks.

What would you say?

1) Well, the thing with my teacher wasn't some kind of betrayal of trust. She was just trying to help, she didn't know what the plan was. I didn't think she'd say anything, but I didn't actually tell her not to.
2) Even if it did get out... What would get out? That I was recording my friends to prep to secretly record someone else? Why would that matter? If I use the video, then they'll know it was done in secret anyway. And why does it matter if it was done in secret?
There might be some school policy about recording people without them knowing, I don't know. There probably is. I don't think it's that big a deal compared to what happened, though. After all, I'm just doing it to expose the truth.
3) With the easier thing, that's something I considered. I doubt it'll make a big difference, though (how would it?). And it's not like I couldn't try it again if the first video doesn't record right.

I'm not sure. It just seems like a suspicious thing to email about.

It's usually an accident or a misunderstanding. Best just not to leak.

Because the Republicans will be suspicious if they hear you're up to something.
They won't spill the beans, thinking you may be recording them.

Your friend will subconsciously speak up, or more clearly, or even lean in more toward the mic.
It won't be a good test.

Well... I already told them about it when I first thought of the idea, so hiding it from them seems pretty pointless.

How would they even hear about it?

That's true. I'll tell them after I finish recording them.

Again, my biggest concern is that I won't be able to find him.

According to a school document:
Any school employee who witnesses harassment, bullying or discrimination, or receives
an oral or written report of harassment, bullying or discrimination, must promptly orally notify
the principal, the principal's designee, or the Dignity Act Coordinator in the school building no
later than one school day after such school employee witnesses or receives a report of
harassment, bullying or discrimination, and to file a written report with the principal, the
principal's designee, or the Dignity Act Coordinator in the school building not later than two
school days after making such oral report.
So, if he doesn't file a written report by the end of school Tuesday, we still have that.

Going undercover to expose discrimination in school? Cool! Have you considered a career in journalism?
Alcohol may have been a factor.

I accidentally called him Trump in the video.
Shit. I could cut that out, but is that misleading? I mean, it was an accident.

Keep it, don't cut it. Make sure you keep everything. Also, back up copies of this stuff. To your computer, and upload copies to a private drop box account.

Then talk to him again, or talk to another one.

Collect more evidence, and next time don't call him Trump. :D
But keep the one where you did, that might still be OK if he or you mentions his real name (or even if his real name isn't mentioned, it can still help).
