What's your opinion on the (a bit old) Lush campaign

Post by Zed4711 »

Lush in 2012 ran a campaign against animal testing in the cosmetics industry, do you think is this effective? Also I noticed on their website their products are not vegan, whats opinion?

Seems hypocritical to use animal products and be against animal testing. Clearly indicates that they're only doing it for publicity, which really just reflects public sentiment.

It's find to torture and kill animals for pieces of them to grind up and mix in a product, but not OK to do it to ensure the safety of said product through testing. Both of those being equally unnecessary today.

When I said animal products I should've clarified that their products are 100% vegetarian not vegan though

I think I read over 80% of their products are vegan.
Also, from what I've seen in their store, they have a vegan alternative to all the types of products they have.

I think so, sorry for being too vague before.

They're currently one of the most ethical companies to buy from regarding cosmetics and personal care items. Many of their products are vegan, with most of their vegetarian products not labeled vegan because of honey. While I would rather they be a 100% vegan company, I can't ignore the great standard they set for human and animal rights in product development and consumerism.

Perhaps one day soon they will ditch the few animal ingredients they still use.

I've just had a thorough look through their website & I'm actually pretty impressed by their stock. I agree with you they are one of the best on the market today.

In that case, I think we should support them.

Yes. Some have things like beeswax, honey, lanolin, etc. but most are vegan. All of them are vegetarian also (I forgot to mention).
