Vegan chalk challenge- worthwhile or a waste of time?

Post by Jebus »

I'm undecided on whether I should participate in this event: https://www.veganchalkchallenge.org/

I fail to see the efficacy but maybe someone can convince me otherwise.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:

2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)

Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

I think it would depend on where you live.

If it's a liberal city with a lot of foot traffic in the area you're chalking it could be worthwhile, particularly if you're good at it.
Might run afoul graffiti laws though...

It also depends on what you put down. I often see stickers on Stop signs so the sign says 'Stop Eating Animals.' This is speculation, but things like that might be counterproductive, since it makes vegans seem too radical and dogmatic.

No, I meant which would be most effective in changing minds. That article is too simplistic.

Depends on foot traffic and the general zeitgeist of the area. My city is quite small and moderately liberal, but chalking hasn't been very effective outside of attracting unwanted attention from security.

I do somewhat prefer it over leafleting, since it can be less intrusive.
