@brimstoneSalad Managed to extract the channel ID's from a website with a list of 1000 fashion brand channels, so we'll be able to get stats from them. Hard part will just be finding them all in a stock list.

I think any results we get will be slightly quizical, for comparing the rate people tune into social movements and the rate at which people get sucked into consumer advertising, but we're trying all sorts for fun like 'vs. hunting channels', 'vs. ex-vegan trend', etc.

Also:

Does anyone know how to interpolate data in a horizontal range that's non-linear in google sheets?

We've sorted linear regression, but I've been told what I'm hoping to do is called 'polynomial regression' or 'spline interpolation'.

We've imported monthly YouTube channel viewership figures from google API. We've laid out the dates and views in a horizontal range. On the right I want to be able to pick a date and show a rough viewership figure that's close to the actual viewership figure, so interpolating as if it were on a curved line of best fit with multiple peaks and troughs.

The reason is to create a YouTube channel directory with monthly actual viewership figure and % monthly trend difference figure (calculated as if it were on a curved line of best fit since the channels beginning).

Here's the google spreadsheet example anyone can edit, using linear regression:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 87IXsKJt3Q

And I need it to work with blank/unknown cells. So using a formula that doesn't treat empty cells as an error, or fills them in based on the average of known figures to both sides in a series.

Hmm, I've probably been out of school for too long but @teo123 might be enough of a math whiz to help with that.

Some big milestones that we've acheived

Vegan YouTube Directory

Directory of vegan channels displayed with stats such as monthly subscriber, views and upload no's, plus the last months percentage viewership trend up or down. As well as primary and secondary channel content, date the channel was created, last upload date in the case of inactive and music genre in the case of music video channels.

4,200 Active talk channels
200 Active other language channels
600 Channels taking a break or quit producing content
200 Music video channels

-

Vegan YouTube Analytics

Tables of vegan channels displayed with viewership stats every year going back to 2016 and the difference between them. With the same channel numbers listed above for the directory.

Seeking volunteers

So now we have a solid 1st draft which we can update each month, we think it would be a great time to ask for volunteers. The jobs we could use help with are:

Vegan YouTube Directory - Updating Process

Data Labelling

We are seeking volunteers to help fill in information about channels within the vegan YouTube directory. On this page, you will find a synopsis of how the directory is formatted, and instructions on how to update any data that must be obtained manually. To see the full master data labelling sheet in the middle of updating click here.

Spreadsheet Interpolating

For the first draft of comprehensive viewership tables we used a 6 month simple moving average . We've achieved linear regression on our master monthly analytics viewership sheet and we're seeking a volunteer excel whiz to manage a more accurate either polynomial regression or a spline interpolation solution.

Web Developing

Potential avenues:

* Create a stand alone website like BreadTube.tv
* Use a template like 30 Bananas a day powered by Ning .
* Update bots with channel lists based on primary content type to automatically post to sub-reddits and discords .
* Come up with a better JavaScript format for the wiki tables.

Computer Programming

We are looking for a an experienced computer programmer who with the help of our last programmer can pick up where they left off. Importing information from Google API and tying it together with manually acquired data labels. The main goal being to automate the process of creating detailed analytics tables and graphs on viewership interest in veganism, vegan sub-topics and specific channels, carefully accounting for anomalous situations.

@teo123 you might get a kick out of this, it was strangely satisfying to make so just thought to share it:

I don't understand the point of that.

No worries then, I just learned a fair bit about world history making it. It's useful to the directory so when we make a table of other language channels we can rank them by no. of speakers. That way other language speakers will find the channels speaking their native/other language easier.

One of the most surprising things on my YouTube channel is that my video about veganism in Latin is the video that has received the most views in the first 5 days, yet my video in which I responded to Nina Teicholz, which is in English and has Croatian subtitles (arguably easily understandable by many more people), is on the 9th place when you look at the number of views in the first 5 days. What do you think is the reason? Do you know somebody else who tried making YouTube videos in classical languages? The second most popular video of mine is a video about atheism in Latin. Yet, my video about anarchism in Latin didn't get popular at all.
