Do Veggie Burgers Offer Decent Nutrition?

Post by Red »

I like to eat veggie burgers from time to time, and a lot of them contain things like carrots, mushrooms, peas, corn, etc.. I've been wondering, since these veggie burgers have these vegetables in them, does that make the veggie burger offer similar nutritional value as the vegetables that make them up do?

The vegetable containing veggie burgers usually contain very little vegetable matter and are primarily low-protein grains and potatoes, so I wouldn't count on it for anything.
The high protein veggie burgers are better, and a better nutritional value. You can get vegetables from vegetables (or smoothies or something containing some vegetables).

I used to eat them a lot more when I first transitioned, I usually have them maybe once a month at this point. It's usually better to just cook and chop up a bunch of colored veggies for nutrition.

What about Tofurky? I'm particularly fond of their new vegan sandwich meat, I like to have with with a tomato and avodaco.

What about the Beyond Meat burgers? Are they nutritious? It tastes a bit too much like meat, but is vegan and not sure if it's nutritious or not.

Tofurky is pretty good, it's largely tofu.

@spencer despite being made from some isolates, they're still pretty good. In terms of amino acids anyway, very good. Would be better with less saturated fat and less isolated protein sources, but isolates don't totally remove all vitamins/minerals.

I prefer Impossible Burgers over Beyond Burgers since they have a more mild meat taste. Sometimes I find Beyond Burgers to be unpalatable because of how much they do to make it meaty tasting.
