Necessity of "Religion" Part of Profile?

I agree in we should add other things like Political Views and Party but I don't think we should get rid of Religion.

Was thinking back to this thread, I've been thinking, why do we still ask for religion at the front door? Wasn't the purpose of the name change supposed to be more welcoming of vegans in general, since the 'Atheist' label may have turned some people off? I think it defeats the purpose, especially considering that many members, especially the active members, have the 'Atheist' label, which could turn some people away before even thinking of registering.

I can't remember the last time we even had a serious discussion about religion on this forum anyway. Any old threads are basically buried at this point, so it'd be hard to find for newer members who would be turned off.

Probably not done differently from the recent one. Things like that tend not to change from version to version.

I like the religion category showing in profile, lets me know where someone is "coming from" philosophically speaking. And why no option for Jain? It's the most vegan friendly religion, the most nonviolent religion.

It's more to do with wanting to attract more members; some people might be turned off by the 'Religion' option on the profile, even if they're atheists, since it's not something they want to discuss or they may find it alienating.

My concern is that they'll get alienated at the sight of any possible religious discussion.

The problem with that is, since my penis is so big others will be made insecure and not join. We need to be selective in which flairs to add.
