Hi there!
My name's Matthew and I'll be on this forum now and again. I've been vegan since sometime in April, and did so after watching Dr. Greger's 'How Not To Die' lecture online, doing a bit of research, and deciding to try a plant-based diet. I've had more energy and my mood's been better, and I've learnt to cook, which is cool.
I'll be heading to bed sometime soon, but I'd love to get to know y'all.
Hiya, 17M Canadian Vegan here.

Welcome Matthew,
Where in Canada are you from? I heard the vegan scene is great in Montreal and Vancouver with the rest of the country a bit behind.

How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

Welcome Matthew, congrats on going vegan.
Have you explored the ethical dimensions as well as the health arguments that got you started?
Would you say you were already ethically aligned with veganism and then the health arguments took away the excuses to eat animals, or did the health arguments sway you on their own?

I'm from Toronto! I believe we have a handful vegan restaurants, but nothing too crazy. I see vegan options on menus a lot though!

I was completely blind to animal rights. Never even considered that they felt pain, or were conscious, just stuffed my face :/brimstoneSalad wrote: βThu Jul 30, 2020 10:25 pm Welcome Matthew, congrats on going vegan.

I was looking into how to lose some body fat at the time, and I was looking through TED Talks while bored, and stumbled upon the lecture. Totally opened me and had me questioning everything. For maybe a few months after, I still didn't particularly care about animals, but I knew that dairy products and animal fat screwed with me, and that while plant-based my mood was a lot better. One night I was debating with my dad and in trying to argue for veganism, it all sort of "clicked' in my mind.
