Hello

Post by boitatá »

Hi everyone, have been on a strict vegetarian diet for spiritual/philosophical reasons without having embraced all the tenets of vegan philosophy. Started engaging in vegetarianism nearly two decades ago but mostly due to ignorance, or maybe all due to it, have had some setbacks. There is little doubt that veganism, vegetarianism, flexitarianism and other are all steps in the right direction and mankind evolving to an all plant based diet would look as a very nice evolutionary step.

Hello boitata, welcome to the forum!
I'm curious, what spiritual/philosophical reasons caused you to go veg?

In the beginning it was Buddhism, lattely it has been Ancient Greek philosophy, in between many religious scriptures including the Bible make a case for it.

Which Greek Philosophers have you been reading? I'm assuming Aristotle?
Regardless of your reasoning, I think we're all interested in learning more. :)

No, mainly Platonists. The Life of Apollonius of Tyana by Philostratus has been inspiring on this issue.

Welcome boitatá, I'm glad you joined. I hope we'll have some interesting discussions. Would you consider yourself a neoplatonist? I understand that's having somewhat of a revival.

Thank you brimstoneSalad! Can't say that. Besides, it would quite a burden to carry. Consider only to have been studying and profiting imensely from the teachings of Plato and some platonic authors and of Greek philosophy in general.

Welcome boitatá,

What's holding you back from going vegan?
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.
