Wearing apparel with pro-vegan messages in public

Post by Avskum »

I've been thinking about doing this more with the intention of

a) finding like-minded people faster
b) weeding out meatheads faster
c) sparking conversation/debates
d) effortlessly converting people to veganism just by them looking at my hoodie (does this work in any capacity?)

I'm wondering what your thoughts and experiences on this subject are!

It probably depends on what you're wearing. If it's a fairly casual message it might get people interested in veganism to look more into when they get home, if it's too radical then it'll alienate more people than it'll potentially convert.

As for a, I'm not sure if many vegans would come up to you (depends on where you live of course), if you live in a city people tend to be distant and keep to themselves.

b, Unless you're leafleting I'm not sure if it's particularly useful.

c, that can be helpful, but make sure it doesn't escalate into a scene.

d, I'm not sure how many people would be converted on the spot like that, I think getting them interested from a shirt is about as good as it would get. Refer to a and c.

That being said, it might be useful to wear normal clothes, if something's counterculture that can create an unnecessary barrier between you and your audience.

Good idea but don´t expect it to have massive effect or lead people to approach you and start a conversation on a regular basis.
