So, what do you think is the best response to that argument? It goes something like this: The biggest cause of antibiotic resistance is not antibiotics given to other living beings, but trace amounts of antibiotics in food. There are regulations preventing trace amounts of antibiotics from appearing in animal products, but there are no enforced regulations preventing that from happening in plant-based food. Because the use of antibiotics in plants is not regulated, it is probably done very irresponsibly and is therefore probably the biggest cause of antibiotic resistance in humans.
I have responded to it by asking for any remotely-reliable source claiming that: https://atheistforums.org/thread-64595- ... pid2129104
"Plant agriculture is probably the biggest cause of antibiotic resistance in humans."

OK, I guess that argunent is too ridiculous to be interesting to anybody here. Though, it's probably less ridiculous than "Veganism leads to soil depletion." (As if having a billion of grain-fed cows somehow magically helps us with that.).

Seriously, though, is there some statement of consensus that egg industry is responsible for most antibiotic resistance in humans, which may be useful in such situations on Internet forums? You know, like the Cambridge Declaration of Consciousness (although citing it, in my experience, does not work to convince people).
