Meat eater vs. Vegan debate welcome, but please keep it within debate topics.
Not to be preachy, but you should really watch them because they have important information. The second is really powerful, but if you don't want to watch it because it's too long, it's fine (sorta).
If you do watch one or both you should also write back and tell me what you think, because I'm curious.
New way to sign up for a session: Go to my teacher web page...There is a tab on the left side that says C.A.T.C.H....fill in the simple form and it will add it to the calendar.
I will watch the videos when I finish my work
I can't watch any cruelty to animals. Sorry. I think the topic is OK, but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable showing the videos.. way too graphic for many kids. Could you find an article to use instead?
Oh, you can't watch cruelty to animals? Yet you have no problem funding it? But that's none of my business.
Anyway, this is the email I'm writing.
Hmmmm, I'll try. Anyway, I wasn't going to show the second one, because it's too long, and because of some parts of the narration.
But the thing is, if people don't see the footage, they might not care enough to change.
It's like when P.I.P. wanted to present a power-point in home-base but wasn't allowed to because it had the word 'faggot.'
"If people don't know about the word, how will they change?" -Isaiah
Actually seeing something is more powerful than reading about it, but I'll try to find an article.
So, I need an article. Anyone have one?
P.S. Isaiah is a former club member who still occasionally comes to our club, even though he is in a different school.

Yeah, it was a spur of the moment venting thing, and I was in a rush.
C.A.T.C.H. Is basically a club where a group gets together and talks about a topic. Each time, somebody leads a topic they want to talk about. For example, last week we discussed whether or not the military should be allowed in schools.
The first is from me, the next are from the teacher who supervises the club, and the last is the one I was writing then.
Anyway, I needed a credible article about factory farming for this topic I'm leading; I can't use a factory farming video, because it's "too graphic." But now I have one. So, my first post is now pretty much an incoherent rant with no real purose other than venting. Oh well.
EquALLity, what grade are you in and what age are the students you want to do this for? Is there any formal school policy about the types of images (whether still images or in film) that students are permitted to see on campus, or is it just the teacher's opinion that a factory farming video is too graphic? If a film isn't formally rated, like many films are in the U.S. (G, PG, PG-13, R, etc.), then it seems harder for school admin to write formal standards without being too broad, like "No images or films depicting violence."
I'm also starting a new thread, since I see some broader issues relating to this.
The ages of students can range from 11-19. It's a pretty big club, and it's composed of middle and high school people.
As for the images- I think you can't wear any clothes that depict violence, but I'll have to check to confirm that. But some teachers have showed us images of gruesome child labor and pictures of beaten slaves, so I don't really know where they draw the line.
