Please sign this petition to save Mauritian beach dogs

Post by Jebus »

Our government has just announced it's plan to solve the problem of Mauritius beach dogs. Starting on Monday they will capture and kill tens of thousands of beach dogs. If this bothers you, kindly take 1 minutes to sign this petition:

I still have hope that the government will change their mind before Monday morning. If not, I will be following the dog catcher van equipped with matches and firecrackers.

I think that if petitions have to be effective anywhere, it is most likely to be online. It's generally not that much of an effort to sign it from your lazy chair.

I really don't know how effective they are. In any case, they only take a few seconds and they certainly won't harm the cause.

Well, there are tons of animal rightsy-petitions online. If they are effective, I would spend time signing them pretty often.

Well, I'm not saying that they are in fact effective. :P

But now that you raised that point: it's also possible that there are just too many of them out there on the internet, making it less effective.

Calls and letters are more effective than petitions. Petitions can be ignored, calls flood your office and make it impossible to do business; they can't be ignored as long as you have a phone line.

Physical letters can kind of be ignored, but mean more than a petition because they cost a little to send, and people receive fewer of them so they take them more seriously.

E-mails and tweets and re-tweets are paid attention to by politicians, particularly if their personal names are in them.
Find out who is behind this extermination campaign in particular, and make sure people know who is trying to kill these dogs.
If somebody's reputation (particularly a politician) is at stake, they'll take notice.

That's all I have.
