Re: Veganism is hipocritical and as absurd as religion
I tried to play fair but oh well, this is super hipocritical, this whole veganism thing, true vegans use no animal products. You guys shouldn't ride around in motor vehicles then. They use oil/petroleum which is an animal product, most things you use like soap use animal products. You can't escape it, Whatever you argue, As a vegan you should avoid using any type of motor vehicle as transportation. Feel free to use a bicycle but no bus's, cars, trucks, planes, you name it.. have fun trying to live like the amish or worse. Oh wait even the amish milk cows.

^^^ EATING MEAT IS NATURAL PHENOMENAAA ANIMALS DO IT BUT NO YOUR EXAMPLE IS ONLY VALID WHEN IT SUITS U JUST LIKE A CHRISTIANSakana wrote:Veganism is about minimizing unnecessary animal casualties/suffering, not about arresting people for accidentally stepping on an ant, or something like that --- but for some reason I've noticed meat-eaters love to put up such straw men! The (il)logic seems to be that since nature can be cruel, and since we can't save all animals even if we tried, we might as well cause as much death and destruction as possible.
Many different animals can be homosexual. It's a natural phenomenon, but it's not the norm. Neither of those determine if something is moral, though. In this day and age it is arguably more moral to be homosexual than not. But you can't really choose whether or not to be gay, so it's pointless to discuss.
BACTERA HAVE PAIN SENSORS TOO BUT WHO CARES....Plants don't have brains or nervous systems. As far as we know, they don't feel pain, fear, sadness, etc. We empathize with animals because they have brains that produce the same basic emotions as our own. This is why you could take a kindergarten on a field trip to a an apple farm, but not to a slaughterhouse.
-- Sorry, this is no religion, but your position (carnism) IS. It's an ideology must of us have been indoctrinated with as young, and later rejected because it's stupid and evil. It's a belief system that is only upheld by pseudo-science, myths, invisibility and various cognitive defense mechanisms.
CARNISM IS RELIGION HOW? RIDICULOUS PSEUDO SCIENCE SAYS WHO?..... HAVE YOU BEEN TO SCHOOL THE GREAT APES ARE OMNIVOURS.. HUMANS ARE GREAT APES......
utter insanity at least Armour could make some reasonable arguments....... go be a good vegan and stop using any and all animal products.. NO CARS.. quit burning fossil fuels!

Are you joking?LogicIsNotRelative wrote: A life form is a life form. You choose to eat plants I choose to eat whatever I want as it is equallly as bad to eat either plant or animal.
Are you saying that killing and eating a carrot is as bad as killing a human and eat him/her? Do you realise how idiotic this claim is?
You're not against murder and cannibalism, then? Since people can eat whatever they want, and eating any life form is as bad as eating any other?
No, I'm sorry, but you're dead wrong.
You're entitled to your own opinions, but not to your own facts, and plants and animals are fundamentally different - even a kid in the kindergarten can understand such a simple thing.
Animals are sentient - they have neurons and a nervous system.
Plants are not sentient - they have neither of those, to your surprise.
Plants don't have emotions, they don't feel pain, and they don't have wants.
If you deny the above, you might as well claim that the earth is flat.
You go against evolution, neuroscience, biology, common sense and all the evidence - which makes you into a lunatic conspiracy theorist.
Now, since animals are sentient and plants aren't, it follows that you cause more harm if you eat animals instead of plants - obviously, since there's nothing inherently wrong in eating plants, as they're not sentient.
On top of this, cognitive capabilities are different in animals, and sentience is strictly related to that - a worm has a lesser emotional complex than a dog, for example, and is less intelligent.
But this is just one of the reasons to be vegan.
If you want to know more about rational veganism, you should check the presentations in TheVeganAtheist's channel playlists.
There are different reasons to be vegan (http://theveganatheist.com/forum/viewto ... f=22&t=768).
No, it applies to sentient beings, as morality is based on sentient beings - and not all animals are sentient (like sponges).LogicIsNotRelative wrote:You guys sort of make this claim but think it only applies to "animals", hipocracy
Uhmm... you're the one that started the thread.LogicIsNotRelative wrote:Just let be people and don't judge them for what they eat, stop preaching your gospel
If you didn't want to have a discussion and hear other people out, you shouldn't have started one.

No, it's obviously not. Your ignorance is over the top. The only possibility you leave me is to believe you're trolling.LogicIsNotRelative wrote:They use oil/petroleum which is an animal product
Most soaps are not based on animal products, sorry to disappoint you.LogicIsNotRelative wrote:most things you use like soap use animal products.

Do you realise that fossils are animals that have been dead for millions of years?LogicIsNotRelative wrote:Of course cars Oil/petroleum is not a an animal product?.. they're called fossil fuels.... Fossils don't form in a month or so.
You don't contribute to any harm done to animals (except for pollution) when you buy fossil fuel.
They don't have to kill animals to give you fossil fuel (duh).

I'm sorry to disappoint you bestofenergy, but if you drive around in a car/motor vehicle you're not a real vegan. You sir/maam are using an animal product in order for your car to run.

'Unfertilized chicken eggs are ok then'? What are you saying?LogicIsNotRelative wrote:Utter hipocracy... unfertalized chicken eggs are ok then.... not fertalized no brain cells.. but somehow you find away around this.. the same way christians say "but that was the old testament"......
Who said/implied that?
The same wat christians say 'that was the old testament'? Just what are you on about... That comparison doesn't even make sense.
When did I ever say it's ok? You should use it the least amount possible.LogicIsNotRelative wrote:use a car and you contribute to pollution that harm defenseless animals.. but somehow driving a car is ok
And if it's possible, not use it at all.
Scripture? What scriptures?LogicIsNotRelative wrote:your telling me to go look up scriptures and video playlists like a christian nut would
Watch a playlist like a christian nut? Because non-christians don't watch any type of playlists?
Christian nuts also breathe air - meaby you should stop breathing air too, since they do it.
Also, you're not addressing my points.
