Ocean Life Extermination

Post by garrethdsouza »

Of all the animal consumption habits, IMO wildlife has got to be perhaps the worst and the while many people may have condemnation towards terrestrial wildlife hunting, they have a huge socioculturally indoctrinated blindspot in the shape of fish.
Fishing often involves a lot of by catch killed too like endangered fish, turtles, dolphins and baby whales and there is no bolt gun to kill fish either, they're just killed by suffocation.

I found this lecture at UCLA by Prof Jeremy Jackson very informative, titled a variation on Huxley's novel, as "brave new ocean".

How is the cove? I am yet to watch it. Pescetarians like Harris should watch this too.

I'm not quite sure where you got the idea that Sam Harris is a pescetarian. He has stated that he eats meat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLFnJ8pWh8g)

It's hard to keep track of what Harris is doing. His cognitive dissonance is so strong, it wouldn't surprise me if he flip flops every week. ;)

Overfishing, and particularly bycatch, is a very serious issue indeed. The Oceans won't last much longer; that's something I was actually surprised about, and I'm not often surprised -- the sheer degree of animal life reduction in the ocean; it was hard to believe.

I don't recollect but I thought I saw a talk show where he suggested he was pescetarian.
Its also turning into an ocean of garbage.
