I think that part of the problem (slow growth) is veganism's perceived ties to sudo-science natural healing nonsense. I can't think of a vegan festival that i've been to that doesn't include spine adjusters, crystal healers, or some other non-scientific mumbo jumbo.

Good point. (
Nice to see you, TVA, btw. )
I think the recent reduction of militant Vegans (at least in terms of media representation) has really helped Veganism to be seen as more mainstream. Besides the ethical considerations, there have been published studies showing a Vegan diet is the most environmentally friendly as well, so that's another group (environmentalist) that are at least
considering a more ethical diet.

TheVeganAtheist! So happy to have you back!
I'm a big fan of your YouTube channel since its early days, and your videos were one of my primary motivations to go vegan (almost 5 years ago now). I've had a terrible day so far, but seeing you back on the forum brightened it a little. I realize you don't make videos anymore, and I understand that your family and career are more important. Still, I hope you'll join in on some forum discussions.
Sorry to hear about all of the psuedo-science garbage at vegan festivals. I haven't been to any myself, but I can imagine it being common.

I'm sure some wackjobs got attracted to veganism because of this. For sure, some were repelled as well. I'm not sure either group outnumbers the other.
There was a bunch of mumbo jumbo in the 1960s and 1970s (think about the belief in the age of aquarius) which perhaps even exceed the pseudoscientific beliefs of today yet vegetarianism still exploded (maybe even because of the mumbo jumbo).
