Now I am vegan & people say " What is your secret on staying so thin and fit? You must be this child's nanny there is no way you like that after having a child."
I have literally had 6 people not believe my son is mine !
I gained over ten pounds when I switched over to a vegan diet!
That's really awesome :)
I'm glad you were able to improve your health so much by going vegan!

Can you tell me a bit about what you ate before and after going vegan? It sounds pretty counterintuitive to me. Did you like vegan food that much that you ate a lot of it? It seems to me that it's much easier to loose weight then gain, since you're generally relying more on fruits and vegetables, while meat, eggs and cheese have many calories relative to it's size. I myself lost some pounds, while eating more than I did before (although probably not in calories, not sure).

Oils in general are pretty much the weight gain. Do you eat any vegan substitutes with oils? Nuts? anything with lots of oils?

I always think of this when meat eaters complain about preaching and I just laugh.

I like to use myself as an example, most people switch to a vegan diet to loose weight but;
I have always been under weight and tall for a female & searched 21 years of my life to find a way to gain weight.
My diet consisted heavily of red meats and dairy, I was under the false impression that these foods would make me gain weight like they did for most everyone else.
The more meat I ate the more sick and thin I was. Also no one took my seriously when I would complain about being under weight or too thin, I always got the response "You are lucky, you don't realize how good you have it" ... (they didn't realize how sick I was)

Then I watched earthlings and went vegan over night...

I gained 10lbs with in a week!

I started eating more fruits and vegetables, tofu, beans, legumes, seeds, nuts and mushrooms, and good oils...

I believe I have a fast metabolism also my cholesterol levels as an omnivore where actually in the low range...

So I may have a predisposition to low cholesterol which there is no research on..

Mind you I am still under weight for my height.. 5'9 108lbs.. But I am not a stick anymore either!

Everybody's body is different!

This is what it was for me I was eating the wrong type of fats..
My body couldn't do anything with the animal fats I was feeding it and I never thought to eat a nut, seed, or supplement with a natural oil!
Very good suggestion!

Thanks for sharing PrincessPeach. Great to hear that you are feeling better about your weight now. It sounds very recognizable to hear that people are saying that you should be happy being thin, as if that would be an accomplishment or something. :P

Not sure how much of a difference different bodies really make by the way. It's true that people have different metabolism, but not sure if makes much of a difference (most fat people just eat too much junk food without really being aware of it). But there's probably someone here that knows more about this subject then me.

I'm kind of dangling around the normal and underweight BMI (really around 18.5), so that's why I'm not really happy with loosing weight. I also eat more fruit, vegetables, beans, legumes and nuts (mostly as snack). I do eat 2 tablespoon of ground flax seeds every morning, but don't always know what to do with seeds further than that (besides putting some in a salad).

I mostly bake in olive oil. And I eat a lot of peanut butter. And like I mentioned above: some flax seeds in the morning and nuts as snack. And of course some veganaise with my french fries. :D

My mom used to call me the 'junk food junkie' I can remember eating a specific type of junk food because I heard it would give me a bigger butt lol.... No not for me, I always stayed thin no matter how much meat or junk food I shoved down my throat...! It wasn't until I became vegan stopped eating bad fats and started eating the right fats then my body gained weight !

You should try making flax seed milk I make it everyday...
Soak your flax seeds for 8 hours (before you go to sleep at night)
Add 5-6 cups of water some pitted dates & strawberries for taste, about 6 dates and 6-8 strawberries
I drink the mill and all!
Why do I make flax milk every day?
I am raising a vegan toddler and he is growing perfectly !!! <3
Seeds go great on anything, I would recommend only drinking flax seeds , if you want to use a seed in salads and other cooking's I would recommend sesame or poppy seeds! You can throw these suckers into rice, pasta, on top of what ever you put your nut butters on too! Poppy and sesame seeds are high in protein, iron, and calcium!

That's odd volenta. Breakfast is usually a massive fruit smoothie with like 4-5 servings of fruit with hemp or almond milk, and some kind of added ingredient like chia seeds, spinach, spirulina, flax, or hemp. I have a salad everyday I particularly like chick pea's on salad, and twizelby's secret trail mix recipe made of unsalted walnuts, golden raisins, unsalted almonds, salted peanuts, and sweetened banana chips. One meal is made of processed vegan food. I do cardio and lift weights almost everyday as well so maybe just start pumpin' iron. I don't restrict my calories either, basically I just try to hit the entire vegan food pyramid everyday.
I way 200 pounds, but I wanna be skinny ripped so I'm trying to cut weight myself .

Is your hemp/ almond milk home made??
Fruit smoothies are really great pulverizing that produce is great, you probably wouldn't chew up all of your food that well!
I would say add flax seeds to your smoothies because they're harder to digest, hemp seeds are easy to eat with out adding to a smoothie I like to taste my fruits not hemp lol!
What do you mean by processed vegan food, like refrigerated foods or canned beans?
I can't buy boca because they refuse to stop wearing latex gloves, so even though the food is vegan I am allergic to latex and they wear latex gloves and touch all over the boca meat & it makes me so sick!! I've called them numerous times they wont change their freaking gloves!

I do make morning smoothies, and that's where I put in the flax seeds I mentioned. ;)

Eating junk food and not getting thicker sounds very similar to my life. I always ate what I wanted, but I never got any thicker. Probably because even though I ate junk food, I never overdid it. I think I just don't have a big stomach.
