Well, I liked The Last Jedi. I also watched the Star Wars prequels recently and I liked them.
Rogue One is the only good Disney Star Wars movie, although even that one I have a few gripes with. The Force Awakens and Solo: A Star Wars Story suck. The Last Jedi is atrocious. I look forward to not watching episode 9. I hope it bombs.
I am a long-time passionate Star Wars fan, and I dislike the direction that the leadership at Lucasfilms has taken the franchise.
I'd like to see Kathleen Kennedy, Rian Johnson, and J.J. Abrams fired; and permanently expelled from Lucasfilms. I want the continuing Star Wars saga to have creative project directors who actually love & understand Star Wars. People who care about what the fans want, and can make creative new stories, yet still respect the characters and previously established lore of Episodes 1 through 6.
The Last Jedi is an atrocious movie. The Last Jedi:
-Disrespects the original trilogy characters, especially Luke Skywalker.
-Squanders the opportunity to give characters introduced in TFA any real character development.
-Introduces several new, unnecessary, and outright cringeworthy characters who could have been better off not included.
-Defies previously established lore about the Force by making Rey outrageously super-powered (even by Jedi-standards), despite zero training.
-Kills off its only formidable villain (Snoke), leaving us only with General Weasley (who has been made into a joke), and Kylo Dork (a hot-headed 30-year-old teenager who throws temper tantrums).
-Disrespects Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth!) by making her into a useless, shiny prop. Phasma doesn't even really count as a character. Damn shame.
-Has a useless side plot which only serves to make a "#%@& rich people" statement (absurdly ironic coming from Disney).
-Is riddled with cringey humor within serious situations, like Poe making a prank-call on General Weasley and finishing it off with a "yo-Mama" joke (and making him a laughing-stock).
-Displays extremely foolish military strategy from the leadership of both sides of the war (making it hard to care about the fate of the Resistance, nor take its enemies seriously)
-Is severely lacking in familiar species of aliens from Ep. 1-6, as well as any aliens in lead roles. Only humans. Where's the diversity, Disney? Are aliens in lead roles too progressive for you?
-Much more, but this list is way too long already. (Thank you to anyone who had the patience to read all the way to the end, which I doubted anyone would.)
