How about a forum section dedicated to politics?

The current Off-topic Forum is very broad regarding it's contents. I would love—as I've a suggested earlier—to have the more serious discussions separated from the 'fun' things. These topics generally are political discussions, so if that's doing the job I'm fine with it.

We could have labels on threads.

I'm not sure whether that's the solution. It really feels like discussions in the Off-topic Forum become totally unnoticed at a certain point when other 'fun' topics are getting lots of posts (and thus get on the top of the topic list). Serious discussions might require more time for people to respond to.

But maybe it's just me who feels like this. Let me know how you see it.

And if labels would be implemented, it would be better to keep it consistent by giving limited options (not a text input).

I like the label idea, but not specifically to satisfy the thing Volenta is talking about.

Personally I would love to see a vegan traveling forum where posters can rate how easy or difficult it was to travel as a vegan to different places. This could also be a place to recommend great vegan restaurants, fairs, and events.

Id suggest starting a thread in the Vegan Forum section.

Are there any other people who would want another thread created for more serious discussions (separate from Off Topic)? Please weigh in.

I think it's fine to make a new section if we merge in a less popular section with another, so the total number doesn't increase.

I'd merge:

Youtube Fan Suggestions / Requests & Forum Support

And also merge the various threads in Science and Technology into the appropriate forum for them (either casual or serious off topic).

Merging away two and creating one would be a net win for making the forum more concentrated and preventing inactive sections IMO.
