Free Range Chickens and Dairy Cows
Would you consider it humane to consume eggs and dairy from free range animals? Why of why not?

No. "Free range" isn't very meaningful.
The cows' calves are still taken away from them and killed for veal, and all of these animals are still killed the moment their production drops, which is a tiny fraction of what their lifespans would have been.
It's not even as kind as a prison. It's much like a concentration camp, where the people were worked until they were all worked out, and then killed.
Being able to walk around outside a cell so small that you can't even turn around doesn't make something ethical. It makes it slightly less depraved.
It may be possible to produce ethical eggs and dairy (you also have to solve the environmental issues, by the way), but "free range" is not it.
