Smoothies

Post by Red »

I find that smoothies are the best and easiest way to get a whole lot of nutrients. I make a lot in the morning so I can have a few throughout the day, and maybe for some following days.

I don't have an exact measurement for each, but here's the list of ingredients.

-Frozen Berries (Berry Medley)
-Spinach
-Kale
-Apple
-Orange Juice
-Banana
-Flax Seeds
-Chia Seeds
-Oats
-Orange Juice
-Cinnamon

I'll post a Cronometer of it later.

Should I add anything to my smoothie? What other smoothies should I make? What smoothies do you make?

I wouldn't add spinach as this is more healthful when eaten cooked. Also, Kale might really harm the taste. Broccoli or red cabbage would be better (more mild taste).

Flax is a lot cheaper than chia and nutritionally slightly more superior. No need taking both. Actually, I would just eat soaked flax seed on the side.

Why include orange juice and not oranges? Just add water until you get desired thickness.

Here are a few ingredients I would include:
Cacao.
A teaspoon of Amla powder.
A tiny bit of red wine vinegar.
A tiny bit of pepper.
Sunflower seed (for protein and vitamin E)
Beetroot
Turmeric
Ginger

3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

I just like to add the spinach since it's an easy way to get some greens in case I don't have any throughout the day; And don't worry, I often eat foods with cooked spinach (it just goes bad pretty fast so I have to hurry up and use it).

I think I blend the smoothie enough and add enough other ingredients to offset the bad taste kale would bring. I'll try experimenting with other vegetables.

I like to add both since I don't have to use as much of one to make up for any I'm not using. Plus a lot of recipes I see add both the seeds.

Well I make the smoothie as the meal in itself, not something to have a meal with.

It's just a little easier.

I tried Cacao, I don't think it went well with my particular smoothie (maybe I added too much). I'll give those other one a go.

I've added a few things to my morning smoothie:
-Frozen Berries (Blackberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries)
-Calcium Fortified Orange Juice
-Spinach
-Kale
-Apple
-Mango
-Banana
-Flax Seeds
-Chia Seeds
-Sunflower Seeds
-Oats
-Cinnamon
-Turmeric
-Cocoa Powder (just a pinch)

I would like to add some Amla Powder, but I have a hard time finding any in my local grocery stores.

Why so many different things? Seems like that would make it kind of inconvenient.

It takes less than 10 minutes to make usually. Plus it's much healthier than what 90% of people eat for breakfast.

Do you have any Indian shops in your area? You are likely to find it there in case you don't want to order it from our friend Bezos.

I don't think so, but I'll look around.

I mainly want it because of the large amount of antioxidants in it.
